Peko Joins Izzy's Wall of Fame
Domata Peko, Defensive Tackle for the Cincinnati Bengals, officially joined the Izzy’s Famous Corned Beef, “Wall of Fame,” Thursday, January 23rd when a sandwich was named in his honor. In making the announcement,Izzy’s President John Geisen said: “Not only is Domata a respected member of the community, a tremendous football player and person; but he’s an avid fan and supporter of Izzy’s. This is our way of saying thanks.”
The 30-year-old Peko was honored at the Izzy’s Ft. Wright location (1965 Highland Pike) and his sandwich was be unveiled at that time. Peko is a native of Pago Pago (AS) Samona and enjoys corned beef, but neither he nor Geisen would reveal his named sandwich.
Peko was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the fourth round (123rd overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft. While listed as a defensive tackle, Peko is seeing increased playing time as an offensive fullback, mainly in goal line plays.
The sandwich is called "Peko" and features Goetta, Corned Beef, Provolone Cheese, and Special Sauce on a Sourdough Roll. Of course it is served with a Potato Pancake.
