The Cod Father Becomes A Catholic Favorite

The Cod Father Becomes A Catholic Favorite

For years now Izzy’s John Geisen takes on his alter ego—the Cod Father.  The Cod Father gets especially popular during the Season of Lent.  He has become a Cincinnati tradition.  2010 is no exception as Lent begins on 17 February and ends on April 3, which is the day before Easter.

The Cod Father is serving up the tastiest fish sandwich in the tri-state!  Stop in at any of Izzy’s 9 locations and taste one for yourself!

  • “Came here about 3 years ago while knocking of Great American Ballpark on my list of all ballparks across America.  Hands down the best Reuben sandwich Ive ever had, and as a New Yorker I know Reuben sandwiches.  Would love to come back again in the future. ”

  • “Had some quests from Columbus area and Andrian, MI and wanted to take them to a "local" restaurant. My grandson and I decided Izzy's in Forest Park was the choice. They LOVED it. First the delicious pickles and then the famous Ruben and potato pancake. The waitress was great, very friendly and we enjoyed her conversation with our questions. They were very impressed with the food and her. I wish I knew her name but she was the only waitress there. Then even bought a jar of pickles to take home.”

  • “Mmm Reubens! I come here for a quick lunch and they are super friendly and prompt. I like to get the reuben salad. It is quite large and a very cool take on the traditional sandwich. It is jam packed with "good" lettuce, sauerkraut, grated swiss cheese, corned beef, chopped pickles, and topped with their homemade thousand island dressing. The cool finishing touch is rye bread croutons which seem to be homemade. They also have good sweet tea! ”

  • “Has the best reuben of my life (thus far)!!  Nothing fancy about this joint - very laid back and casual.  Staff was friendly and I could tell that they have a lot of regulars that come in for lunch.  I ordered a reuben and fell in LOVE!  Not greasy, not soggy, lots of awesome corned beef and sauerkraut, and the bread was super fresh. Izzys is on our list of places to eat when we are in Cincy.   Top 3 for sure! ”
