Aaron's Food Adventure

Izzy's is a sandwich deli shop located in Cincinnati, Ohio. About two months ago, they were featured on the Travel Channel's hit series "Man v. Food Nation," where one MvF Nation member attempted to eat the "110 Reuben," a massive 5+ pound Reuben sandwich. I ventured to the original Main Street location, the site of the MvF Nation taping.

The corned beef was excellent, among some of the best I've ever had. The seasoning, brining, and slow-cooking process yields this comforting aura when I eat it. Just soft, tender, and flavorful. I loved the melted Swiss cheese here, and even better that they used a broiler to melt that bad boy down. The dressing (probably 1000 Island or something similar?) has that sweet component that combines perfectly with the drained sauerkraut. So yes, I know my fellow Yelp buddy "Chuck B" would enjoy this sandwich... Read More.

  • “Came here about 3 years ago while knocking of Great American Ballpark on my list of all ballparks across America.  Hands down the best Reuben sandwich Ive ever had, and as a New Yorker I know Reuben sandwiches.  Would love to come back again in the future. ”

  • “Mmm Reubens! I come here for a quick lunch and they are super friendly and prompt. I like to get the reuben salad. It is quite large and a very cool take on the traditional sandwich. It is jam packed with "good" lettuce, sauerkraut, grated swiss cheese, corned beef, chopped pickles, and topped with their homemade thousand island dressing. The cool finishing touch is rye bread croutons which seem to be homemade. They also have good sweet tea! ”

  • “2nd time to dine at Izzys.  THIS PLACE IS OFF THE CHAIN!  The "Famous Reuben" is amazing!  This place is a MUST STOP when in the Florence area. The service was good and my beverage stayed full - even brought a to go cup without asking. ”

  • “Izzy's is a great place. a staple of downtown Cincy. They are known for their Ruben. However I recommend the Izzy's Mex (spicier Ruben) or "The Suzzy" which is turkey and cranberry-orange relish with cream cheese... it's better than it sounds.”

  • “Goetta Rueben and potato pancakes!! And those crisp, cold pickles! Yummy ”

  • “We love this place. So glad it came to Ft. Wright. My 2-yr. old loves the pickles and almost makes a meal on them alone. The reubens are great but you owe it to yourself to experiment. The Spicy Delight is awesome and worth a try. ”

  • “Has the best reuben of my life (thus far)!!  Nothing fancy about this joint - very laid back and casual.  Staff was friendly and I could tell that they have a lot of regulars that come in for lunch.  I ordered a reuben and fell in LOVE!  Not greasy, not soggy, lots of awesome corned beef and sauerkraut, and the bread was super fresh. Izzys is on our list of places to eat when we are in Cincy.   Top 3 for sure! ”
